Fashion Association of Tacoma

Launch party temporarily postponed

By Jennifer Johnson on October 30, 2008

The much-hyped Fashion Association of Tacoma (FAT) has postponed their launch party originally scheduled for this coming Thursday, Nov. 6 at Rebecca V Gallery on Sixth Avenue.

Never fear, the forces behind FAT want everything to be just right when introducing local clothing designers, hair stylists, make-up artists, models and photographers and lovers of all things sparkly and shiny to one another. If what was seen at last weekend’s Threads of Hope — the successful fashion showcase and breast cancer fundraiser put on by some of these same folks — is to be any indication of what FAT will offer, the Puget Sound is in for something vibrant and excitingly new in 2009.

We’ll keep you posted, Tacoma, and in the meantime, fill your now empty Thursday evening with a trip across the Tacoma Narrows Bridge. Gig Harbor gets the pre-winter holiday party started early with HO!HO! Harbor Holiday — An Uptown Preview. Merchants at the new Uptown Shopping Center on Point Fosdick Boulevard will shower attendees to this free event with special discounts, a fun fashion show, prizes and giveaways (of course!) with live entertainment and hors d’oeuvres from 5-9 p.m. Thursday Nov. 6. Many new shops, spas and salons have opened in this high-end area — J Jill, Chico’s, Ann Taylor LOFT, Hush Baby, SQ Décor, Posh Paw, Julep, and Tuscan Sanctuary Salon and Spa — with more on the way. Go on, make the trip and get acquainted with your new BFFs. And to make shopping feel even cozier, some of the funds raised will be donated to the Gig Harbor Mid-Day Rotary Club to support their community projects. Awww, spending money does feel good.
