Sean Gaskell plays the West African Kora, a 21 string harp native to the Mandinka people of Gambia, Senegal, Mali, Guinea and Guinea Bissau. The Olympia native first started playing the Kora in 2006, and traveled to Gambia in 2008 to study the instrument with Malamini Jobarteh and Moriba Kuyateh. He will be returning there this January. He anticipates his first CD release to take place in the spring of 2012. More info can be found at www.seangaskell.com.

Pachi Pamwe is a duo from Portland, Oregon featuring music from Zimbabwe. Eric Miller plays the Zimbabwean Mbira and Matt Gordon plays guitar. Miller has studied the Mbira for many years with teachers in Zimbabwe and the U.S. The duo is well known for blending in traditional aspects of the music with contemporary additions of their own.
