Oran Hesterman, president and chief executive of Fair Food Network, a nonprofit group that aims to guarantee access to healthy, fresh, and sustainable grown food, especially in underserved communities, will speak at 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 20 inside Kilworth Memorial Chapel (North 18th and North Warner, Tacoma). COOKING CLASS

Salty's at Redondo Beach (28201 Redondo Beach Drive S., Des Moines) will hook up with Georgetown Brewery for a five-course Brewmaster's Dinner at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. Chef Gabe Cabrera will discuss how and why he selected each pairing, and Adam Winn, brewmaster, will talk about the beers.

BEER TASTING

The Harmon Brewery is hosting a beer tasting from 3-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 29 at the QFC in Gig Harbor (5010 Point Fosdick Dr. NW, 253.851.3900). Oakland A's and Moneyball star Scott Hatteberg will help host the event.
